Week of January 28-February 1, 2013

In the Kindergarten groups we will be work on reading, spelling and rhyming words in the -at family.  Examples are words such as bat, cat, rat.  We will have a quick informal assessment on Friday 2/1.

In the first grade groups we will wrap our our unit on the suffix -s- with an assessment on Friday 2/1.  I am very proud of all study in my 1st grade groups, they are working hard on this concept (and it is sometimes trick to her the sounds before the -s-) :)

In the 2nd grade groups we will start our unit on words with the sounds of /ar/ and /or/.  This is sometimes a hard concept to learn, so practice words such as storm, harm, corn, and yarn.

Friday 2/1 is our 100th day celebration!  So I invite any male figure to come in to celebrate with us so we can get our 100 BookMEN!

Week of January 14-18, 2013

I am all done with testing!  I am very excited about picking up my friends (which I now have a few more new faces to teach!)

In my Kindergarten groups we will just review the sounds of the alphabet with an array of activites using picture cards, i-Pads, SMARTBoards, magnets, gel boards, etc.  We will begin on sounding and blending words next week.

In my Level 1 groups we will be working on Unit 6, which concentrates on the suffix s.  We will be reading and spelling words and sentences with words with -s- at the end.  Examples are: halls, jams, sits, bags.

In my Level 2 groups we will be working on Unit 7, which concentrates on open syllables.  Those are words with the long vowel sounds at the end of the syllable (word).  We will be reading and spelling those types of words.  Examples are: shy, duty, remote.

Reminder: No School on Friday 1/18 and Monday 1/21!
